Indian Railways has restarted passenger train operations from 12th May, 2020, initially with 15 pairs of trains (30 return journeys). These trains are being run as special trains from New Delhi Station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi.


All passengers are hereby informed that downloading of Aarogya Setu App on their mobile phone, that they are carrying along, is mandatory.



All Passenger to kindly note that on arrival at their destination, the traveling passengers will have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination State/UT.  For trains cancelled till 30th June 2020 by Indian Railways, full refund will be provided automatically by IRCTC. Users need not cancel their e-tickets. Full fare will be credited back into users accounts from which payment was made.


 Catering Service is not available and catering charges not included in the fare.


 No blanket and linen shall be provided in the train.


There are Maximum Waiting List Limits in the PRS booking system for which Waitlisted Tickets can be issued after all confirmed tickets are exhausted. Your ticket booking request may get declined as the Maximum Waiting List Limit may be reached in the booking system by the time payment success response is received from your bank. In such case, your deducted amount will be refunded back, without any deductions, to your bank account in 3-5 working days. Inconvenience caused is regretted.

Indian Railways starts online booking for the 200 (100 pairs) special trains from 10.00 am today. Railway Ministry on Wednesday issued a list of trains that will operate from June 1. Railways also issued guidelines which the passengers travelling in these trains should keep in mind. People can book e-ticket in these trains from 10.00 am today through the IRCTC app and website.


 The Ministry of Railways announced that starting June 1, it will operate 200 non-air conditioned, second class, passenger trains daily. These trains will be in addition to the existing Shramik special trains being run since May 1 and Special AC trains (30 trains) being run since May 12.


"Ministry of Railways in consultation with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has decided that train services on Indian Railways shall be further partially restored from 1st June 2020," news agency ANI reported.


How to book tickets for special trains from the website?



You can book tickets in special trains, can do so by using the IRCTC’s official website and mobile app as the ticket counters at the railway stations will remain closed. Follow this process:


  • Open --irctc.co.in--

  • Click on the Register button and create your IRCTC account. If you already have, you need to login.

  • After you are logged in, you’ll have to fill the source and destination, select the journey date, class of coach and then click on Find Trains option.

  • Choose the train you want to book tickets for from the list, along with the class you want to travel in (only AC coaches available).

  • Click on Check Availability and fare for the journey.

  • If seats are available, you should be able to proceed to Book Ticket.

  • Click on Book Now option, fill all the required details such as name, age, gender, and berth preference.

  • You’ll be provided with an option to book tickets only if the confirmed berths are allotted.

  • Scroll down and enter your mobile number and captcha code. Then click on Continue Booking option.

  • You’ll reach the payment option page, wherein you can choose the preferred option for payment, i.e., credit card, debit card, and others.

  • After the payment is done, your ticket will be booked and you’ll get a confirmation along with your ticket on your registered phone number and email ID.


Booking of Tickets


     Only online E-Ticketing will be done through IRCTC website or through Mobile App. No tickets will be booked across the reservation counter on any Railway Station. Booking of tickets through ‘agents’, (both IRCTC Agents and Railway Agents) shall not be permitted.

     The ARP (advance reservation period) shall be maximum 30 days.

RAC and Wait list will be generated as per extant rules however waiting list ticket holders shall not be permitted to board the train.

     No unreserved (UTS) tickets will be issued and no tickets will be issued onboard to any passenger during the journey.

No tatkal and premium tatkal booking shall be permitted in these trains.

First chart shall be prepared at least 4 hours before scheduled departure and second chart shall be prepared at least 2 hours((unlike present practice of 30 minutes) before scheduled departure. Only online current booking shall be permitted in between first and second chart preparation.

All passengers shall be compulsorily screened and only asymptomatic passengers are allowed to enter /board the train.

Passengers travelling by these special services will observe the following precautions :

     Only passengers with Confirmed tickets shall be allowed to enter the Railway station.

All passengers must wear face covers/masks at the entry and during travel.

The passengers shall reach the station at-least 90 minutes in advance to facilitate thermal screening at the station. Only passengers who are found asymptomatic will be permitted to travel.

Passengers shall observe social distancing both at the station and on trains.

On arrival at their destination, the travelling passengers will have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination state/UT

Quota Permitted

All quotas shall be permitted in these special trains as has been permitted in Regular trains. Limited number of reservation (PRS) counters shall be operated for this purpose. However, normal ticket booking cannot be done through these counters.

Only four categories of Divyangjan concession and 11 categories of patient concessions are permitted in these special trains
